Oxwall 1.7.4 is released

Oxwall 1.7.4 is available for download immediately. Complete changelog can be found here.

Important: If you are running Oxwall of any previous version, you are encouraged to wait until the auto-update prompt appears in your admin area. Before you attempt it, make sure to:

  • Back up your website. Seriously, folks, better safe than sorry;
  • Run the platform update first, only after that run all available plugin updates;
  • Run theme update also only after the platform update.

If you don’t want to perform the update yourself, check companies and contractors specializing in Oxwall support.

Thanks,
Oxwall team.

  1. I had suggested this in the forums shortly after the previous platform update, but I’ll mention it again here.

    There is a specific process you must follow when performing a platform update:

    Unfortunately, many unseasoned, inexperienced users may not know about this process, and will simply go ahead and click the update link in the notice that appears in their admin area. What often results is a break in the site, panic, and the user goes looking for support.

    I am hoping you will include a warning in the admin area notice to follow the proper steps when performing a platform update, with a link to the instructions. This will save inexperienced users a lot of time and trouble. It’s how I learned of the process. I had assumed that all I have to do is click the “update” link and all will be well. Had there been a link “Follow These Instructions” included in the admin area platform update notification, I would have saved myself time and trouble, as well as saved busy team members from having to help me correct the screw up.

    I’m sure new users as well as team members would greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks for your efforts!

  2. Really need to replace how updates are done from within the site. Its a pain in the @$$ doing one update after another one by one when a new core update is put out. need a just click that allows checking everything you wanna update and update it all at once in one go.

  3. I tried to install v1.7.4 manually and it does not work. There is no install directory, so can’t do anything with it.

  4. Massive work people! Smooth and no problems at all. If the development of Oxwall keeps maintain this speed. Its just a matter of time to become the biggest!

  5. Hello Admins,

    I’d love to enquire about your optimization to have user friendly UI on Opera browsers. I believe, with such a tweak especially on theme responsiveness can build even a larger Oxwall community.

    Keep up the Good work though,

    • We do not specifically optimize for Opera but if you have any issues with it, please report in the forums.
